Dear Green as in the "dear green place" Glasgow used to be called, and Blue as in Europe's blues capital (a reputation the city has earned for the exceptional quality of its blues scene), Dear Green Blue is pure Glasgow blues, with a difference.
Difference in the repertoire, jazzy at times and funky at other times, featuring the soulful vocals of recording artist Angela Higney (EMI/BMI) and two guitarists with distinctive styles, John Scott and Pete Parisetti. One of the best rhythm sections is town, courtesy of Tim Clarke on bass and Mik Grant on drums, complete the lineup of seasoned professionals.
Difference in the selection of songs - Dear Green Blue is the only band in Scotland performing modern classics by John Mayer, Robben Ford and Tedeschi Trucks Band and Blue Mink, presented alongside a selection of well known standards, often reinterpreted with a contemporary vibe. The group performs regularly in blues clubs and festivals around the country and is appreciated for musicianship, taste and refinement rather than "brute blues power".
