2020’s Arran Rock 'N' Blues Fest is going to be even bigger than 2019’s sold-out event with more bands, a larger capacity and, significantly, a move to the Ayrshire September Holiday Weekend.
This holiday weekend date is particularly important to Arran as it was when music lovers came en-masse to the island to see and hear name artists (The Corries, Nazareth) and bands who were on the verge of superstardom such as Slade and Thin Lizzy).
It’s interesting to note that the latter were incorrectly billed as Thin Lizzie, something that happened to the band a number of times during their earliest gigs! (see ARRANgements 1971, opposite).
There was also an appearance on the island by Tear Gas, from whom most of the musicians would go on to become part of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. It’s therefore fitting that one of Scotland’s premier tribute acts, The Sensational Alex Harvey Experience, will be playing the festival this year (SAHE also played the inaugural event in 2018).
